We're almost at the end of winter 2020, but it's not too late to share my winter wardrobe essentials with you! I will admit that my wardrobe has become a lot more like a capsule wardrobe, thanks to the month I spent trying out the concept of the capsule wardrobe (read HERE). I've been shopping less but investing in more longlasting items, but with every winter that comes by, I just have to have these five clothing items in my wardrobe.
So here are five of my winter wardrobe essentials, how I styled them, and where you can check them out.
The Statement Coat
Winter wardrobe can get boring with winter jackets and boots weighing you down and some days you just need something extra. A statement coat is a must-have for your wardrobe every winter. Its that one outerwear piece that can take your outfit from simple to elegant in a second. My statement coat this winter has been this Salt and Pepper Tailored coat from Zara (similar linked).
A Good Pair Of Basic Sneakers
I've loved styling a lot of my outfits with a pair of white sneakers lately, and with the great weather we are currently having, it has been a big part of my Winter wardrobe. I have always been one to keep my sneakers very simple; white or black, to go with a lot of combinations. For this look, I recreated one of my most popular spring outfits by styling these Adidas sneakers with some blue jeans and a long tailored brow coat.
Some Chunky Boots
Who can get through winter without a good pair of chunky boots? Not me! I've never had proper winter boots before, but I've always stayed warm by getting a good pair of knee-high mountain boots. This season, I invested these chunky black boots from Zara, and I must admit they have been my favourite winter wardrobe essential. Since first wearing them in Banff, I've become attached! My favourite to style them is by pairing them with oversized pants and knits for comfort and some edge.
Sadly the exact pair has been sold out on Zara but it seems like a restock might be coming soon. Check it out - HERE
Comfortable Sweaters
Also featured in this look is another wardrobe essential of mine - a chunky sweater. I mean, who doesn't love hearing that the most comfortable clothes while being fashionable? I am a big fan of any knitwear with a turtleneck, and I am not afraid to layer till I'm warm enough. Still loving the oversized look, I paired my grey sweater with my high-waisted mom jeans and a comfortable Shearling Coat. This outfit is excellent for days packed with errands and appointments.
An Oversized Scarf
And lastly, I would not have made it through this winter without my oversized scarf! Honestly, what I call a scarf is a blanket through that is fancy enough for me to pair with my outfits. This oversized white scarf (ahem, throw) has been a great addition to my winter wardrobe; the pattern is fun and simple enough that I can pair it with multiple outfits. I have used this scarf to elevate my all-black looks numerous times, so I did the same with this look. I was keeping it simple with a black turtleneck sweater, a midi bodycon skirt and, of course, some thigh-high boots.
