I hope you are well and still practicing social distancing. I have been impressed by how responsible a lot of us have been during this pandemic and it has been heartwarming watching everyone play their part (no matter how big or little) in making sure we are staying safe. Continuing with our lockdown series, here's fun item number two of 5 Fun Things To Do At Home This Weekend, Let's make simple cocktails!
One of my favourite things to do has always been brunching, going out for happy hour and catching up with friends and family. With being on lockdown, happy hour has been a bit different. Thanks to social connection platforms such as Zoom, Skype and many more, I've been able to do happy hour...but just a little differently. Here are two simple cocktail recipes that you can make on your own while you take your happy hour online.
Make Simple Cocktails With Me
Cocktail One: Pineapple Mimosa
Bottomless mimosas don't have to go away because we're stuck at home these days you know. Here's a quick way to make your pineapple mimosa to go with your Creamy Fusilli Pasta!
The make time is about 5 minutes. This cocktail is low in alcohol, vodka and citrus based sweet.
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Pineapple vodka - I had mine chilled in the freezer for a couple hours before
- 1/8 oz of lemon juice
- 1/8 oz of orange juice
- 2 oz sparkling wine to fill glass (I used Prosecco)
- Orange Slice to garnish
Instructions:
- Gather ingredients, measuring cup, and a champagne flute
- Cut up orange into thin slices and split in the middle
- Build the ingredients in the order listed above in your measuring cup and transfer to your champagne flute
- Garnish with an orange slice
- Serve and enjoy!
*Tip: You can make this cocktail a little sweeter by adding simple syrup or honey syrup. I personally prefer the orange flavour only.
Cocktail Two: Vodka with Sprite
This cocktail is a lot simpler with very little prep time! It's low in alcohol, citrus based and sweet. What more could you ask for a home cocktail recipe?!
Ingredients:
- 1.5 oz vodka
- 5 oz Sprite
- 1 lime wedge
- Ice Cubes
Instructions:
- Fill glass halfway with ice cubes
- Add in 1.5 oz of Vodka - I used pineapple Ciroc vodka
- Top up with 5 oz of sprite and mix in
- Garnish with a lime wedge
- Serve and enjoy!
I've been getting creative with my meals and drinks during this lockdown, I guess that's the silver lining of being indoors. But staying positive and staying inspired have really been a priority for me and times like this, I am truly reminded of how blessed I am to have this platform to share my ideas with you.
