A CHIC WAY TO STYLE A SLIP DRESS
A slip dress is a fashion girl staple these days. They got into the scene in 2015 and they have been going strong since then. This one piece has gone from being hot for the moment, to a wardrobe staple. Fashion girls and "it" girls have styled these in different ways and for different events. My favorite thing about a slip dress is the versatility. They come in different cuts and textures and can be paired for a long list of events.
The first time I saw a slip dress style that wowed me, was when Vanessa of "The Haute Pursuit" did her thing in her "In the Fray" post! Then I began to see more main stream style of the slip dress, with it being one of 2016 biggest summer style. With the trend forecasts for 2017 so far, I think she is here to stay!
I am not late to styling slip dresses, I featured a fun look in summer '16, a look which was an ode to fashion girls of every kind (see HERE). I guess this is a part two of it, a more sultry approach. But whatever the event or the look, you can pair these up with a variety of heel, from mules to sandals, sneakers and flats. You can layer this piece up, with long jackets or a simple turtle neck. The possibilities are endless.
THE LOOK
Now to the look; I am styling this Zara slip piece with a pair of fishnet tights, some ninety's block heels, a renewal jacket and my favorite hat, the aviator hat. i am still on the fence on the fishnet trend, and frankly I hope I remain there till the trend passes. But I figured it would be fun to incorporate a trendy piece into my personal style. I always aim for that tiny bit of nineties flair with my looks, I mean we owe all our present day fads to the nineties!
Hope you enjoyed this post! How do you style slip dresses? What is your opinion on them? Would you wear the? Do you own one? See you soon!
