It’s not news that an LBD (little black dress) is a wardrobe staple, it’s one of the few things you learn in when you first start shopping for your wardrobe! However, no one really talks about why and how the LBD is a wardrobe staple. Let’s talk about it featuring the bodycon dress ☺️.
First of all, bodycon fit clothes are my favorite. I believe the silhouette works great for my body type and helps accentuate my *cough* *cough* hips. Apart from the fit, I find that a good bodycon piece, be it a skirt or dress gives a flair of elegance to your final look. But here’s where it gets fun, the body dress is the perfect agent for layering. During the summer it can make a perfect throw on piece, styled up or down with kimonos, button down shirts for that messy laid back look or in this case, a subtle chic look with an off shoulder crop top.
I think one of the biggest themes of 2018 style has been pairing unlikely pairs. From mix match prints, to skirts on denim (glad that’s over!) and over sized footwear with high fashion looks. The summer layering look has been my favorite so far, layering light pieces for a more high profile look.
For this look, I paired my black bodycon dress with one of my favorite off should crop tops. I would love to make a case for how crop tops can still be handy but I'll leave that for a different day. I loved wearing both the dress and the top off shoulder, I think it gave the look a more relaxed feel. Finally, I slipped on my favorite summer mules (I mean if you are o my Instagram, you should know by now)! I added a black mini bag in the mix and I was good to go!
