A Take on Winter Style
With my current Instagram updates, we have seen me go from cute minis to sparkly dresses. All these pieces have a special place in my heart, but I think its time to do a realistic winter post. So, its finally here and I am covered up; my take on winter style!
My daily schedule revolves around work, school and libraries and coffee shops. Being a home body, dressing for daily activities is really easy as i always reach for the most comfortable pieces in my wardrobe. Living in Winnipeg has a way of making you feel like style does not matter...but it is really all about how you coordinate your wardrobe and shopping for the right pieces. My wardrobe is 80% cool toned pieces and about 20% statement pieces for special occasions.
When shopping, my goal is to find versatile pieces; pieces that can be easily combined with at least 4 other pieces. I shop for styles that go with denim and casual looks, styles that can be paired with cooperate looks and styles that blend well with layering. Layering is an important part of winter wardrobe combination. During the winter, i reach for structured basics, items that stand out in style but can be easily toned down. Pieces such as turtle neck sweaters in black and white shades and a couple others in khaki or brown tones.
On a typical winter day, my look is made up of a thick sweater, preferably a turtle neck piece. Combined winter a pair of denim or leggings. I always opt for sneakers when its warm enough as they take your look up a notch. For outerwear, I prefer thick coats, just like this black long piece from boohoo. I find that long coats make it easy to go from official to casual in a few minutes. And for a bit more detail. I added this bright cross-body bag, the statement piece to this look. That is my take on winter style!
