The Meet Up Event | Building Community for Creators

Some ideas are born from a gap you wish someone had filled for you. The Meet Up Event was one of those ideas.

When I first started as a content creator in 2014, it was a lonely journey. No support system, no mentorship, no community of people who understood what it meant to build something from scratch online — especially as a Black woman in Canada. After years of creating, failing, growing, and winning, I reached a place where I could be that resource for someone else.

That’s how The Meet Up Event was born.

WHAT WAS THE MEET UP EVENT?

The Meet Up

The Meet Up Event was an intentional gathering for content creators, influencers, bloggers, and photographers to come together, connect, and build real relationships offline. Not a conference. Not a panel. A brunch — intimate, welcoming, and designed for genuine community building.

The inaugural event was held at Chaise Cafe in Winnipeg, Manitoba — chosen for its beautiful aesthetic and warm atmosphere. What started as a casual get-to-know-you brunch evolved into an organic information session where every person in the room contributed something valuable. The energy was electric. The connections were real.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR CREATORS

The content creator space can feel isolating, particularly for Black creators and women of colour navigating an industry that wasn’t always built with us in mind. The Meet Up Event was created to change that — to build a space where Black and multicultural creators in Canada could find their people, share their experiences, and grow together.

Community is the foundation of everything I do. From #BlackGirlLuxury to this blog to my social platforms — it has always been about more than content. It’s about connection.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Meet Up Event isn’t a one-time thing. It’s a movement in progress. The next installation is in the works, and when it happens, it will be bigger, bolder, and even more intentional.

If you’re a content creator, influencer, photographer, or creative who would love to be part of the next Meet Up Event, drop your details below or send me a message at the contact page. I want to hear from you.

PARTNER WITH THE MEET UP

The Meet Up Event is more than a brunch — it is a platform for community, representation, and intentional connection among Black and multicultural creators in Canada.

If your brand believes in the power of community and wants to be part of the next installation, I would love to hear from you. Sponsorship and collaboration opportunities are available for brands aligned with creativity, culture, and the Black girl luxury experience.

Let’s build something meaningful together.

Stay tuned. The best is yet to come.
